ENTER YOUR TELEVISION SCRIPTS

$1000 for best hour-long and best half-hour television script. Writers will also be given creative and career counseling and access to television agents and managers.

Judges for the half-hour category are Ellen Sandler and Jamie Rhonheimer. Ellen Sandler is the Emmy-nominated writer of Coach and Everybody Loves Raymond. Jamie is currently a supervising producer on How I met your Mother, and was a producer on Will and Grace and wrote for five years on Yes, Dear, rising from staff writer to co-producer. The TV semifinalists will all receive a copy of Ellen's The TV Writer's Workbook: A Creative Approach to Television Scripts.

THE NEW ATLANTIS STUDIOS PRIZE: A GRAPHIC NOVEL

Atlantis Studios of Suwanee, Ga., will turn a winning script into a professionally-made 64-page graphic novel under a new $10,000 Atlantis Studios Prize in the Screenplay Competition of the Screenwriting Expo.

Atlantis Studios will choose a screenplay from contest entrants’ scripts and cover all costs of adapting it into a full-color, professional-quality 64-page graphic novel for commercial distribution. The writer will select his or her art team from Atlantis’ stable of more than 60 artists and will receive a complete printer-ready comic within a year. The winner of the prize will also retain all rights to the graphic novel.

Atlantis will assist in marketing the graphic novel, giving it exposure on a custom-designed web site. “We will develop an exclusive preview website, and will consult with the winner to develop to develop a business plan that will maximize profit, royalty, and licensing revenue for the winning creator,” said James Watson, president of Atlantis Studios, Inc.

TWO SPECIAL WRITERS BOOT CAMP PRIZES

Two writers will win a $8,500 Writers Boot Camp Professional Membership in L.A. or N.Y.C. The first step of Professional Membership is Think Tank, a 22-month career development program during which writers will develop three features as well as the skills and discipline to achieve at a professional level over the course of a career.

KERSEY MANAGEMENT SPEC PACKAGE

Manager Andrew Kersey will work to find the writer an agent and “blanket the town” with his or her screenplay, sending it to several of the major buyers. Kersey Management represents the next generation of writers and directors in both film and television. Last year's Kersey Management sold a pitch to Fox, with Sandra Bullock attached to star, for a million dollars.

20 SEMIFINALISTS

All 20 semifinalists will receive John Truby’s Blockbuster (the official story development software of Expo 6), Movie Magic Screenwriter 6 (its newest version), notes from The Script Whisperer, admittance to Expo 6, and a subscription to Creative Screenwriting magazine. Over $10,000 in prizes to semifinalists.
